我们如果有机会跟“potential clients”(有可能合作的客户)抽空“meet up for business lunch or dinner”(见个面,一起吃顿午餐或是晚餐,也顺道商讨一下业务合作),那么这将是非常难得的机会,以供我们“pitch a presentation to sell ourselves and our work”(与对方做一个演讲,目的在于推荐我们自己,乃至我们的工作内容等)。今天我们就来讨论一下这个话题,也顺道学习一下一些相关的英语表达吧。

1。充分理解你需要面对的听众:
-Are they familiar with the topic of our presentation?
他们对咱们的演讲内容熟悉吗?
-What are their particular interests? What will they be looking for in our presentation primarily?
他们有哪些特别感兴趣的事情?他们可能主要希望从咱们的演讲中了解到什么情况?
-What is the purpose of our speech? Is it to educate and sell? Is it to entertain and sell?
我们演讲的目的是什么?是让他们对我们工作内容有个了解,进而愿意跟咱们商业合作?还是博得他们的兴趣,进而使得他们愿意跟咱们商业合作?
2。自荐演讲的顺序和结构安排:
-How will you plan your opening? What effect are you looking for?
你将如何来计划你的开场白?你希望有什么样的效果收获?
-What are your most important points to get across, before the audience lose their interest?
在听众失去兴趣之前,你最需要跟对方阐述的内容有哪些?
3。把一些详细的信息留到以后再阐述,或者是期待听众会主动与你提出:
-What information would you deliberately leave out, so as to better intrigue your audience?
什么信息你将故意做个保留,这样可更好地引起听众的兴趣?
-How will you leave them hanging on, wanting for more information?
你将会怎样来让他们备感兴趣,希望能够再多了解一下详细内容?
比如,在跟某合作对象推荐咱们咖啡店的特色时:
-Thank you for agreeing to meet up with me.
谢谢你答应跟我碰面。
-I've brought along a menu and a few pictures to show you about what we offer at our cozy cafe.
我带来了菜单,还有一些照片,希望给你看一下我们温馨的咖啡店具体有哪些特色。
-You might not have heard of our cafe, because we rarely do advertisements and mostly rely on word-of-mouth to generate buzz.
你可能之前还没有听说过我们的咖啡店,因为我们很少做广告,基本上就依靠客人之间的口传口来传播消息。
-Here on our menu you see the different drinks, cakes, and light meals offered at our place. Please, here is a copy for you.
